Day Two of Our Victoria Vacation

Day Two of our Victoria Vacation

Selfie with the sailor…

Welcome to Day two of our Victoria vacation…we headed out to do some sightseeing and show the kids the Legislature. We ran into this sailor walking along the water and I had to take a picture with him. His name was Captain (N) (Ret) John Mason, a WWII Naval veteran and he was joined by other statues from WWII…

I must backtrack a little to breakfast…we ate ate a restaurant called Willies, just a hop, skip and a jump from our hotel and on the way to the Legislature Building. Their menu has everything: eggs and bacon; waffles and pancakes; eggs benny; French toast, lunch items and all have a unique twist on them. They close at 4:00 so it’s an early dinner you’ll receive but well worth it. The food is delicious, fresh squeezed orange juice that you can watch as you enter but the prices are high…again well worth it. I didn’t have a chance to take any photos but you can visit their website at Willie’s Bakery & Cafe.

The first slide is a reunion between a Naval officer and his daughter and the others are soldiers in front of the Legislature and of course the Queen. That was our second stop on our tour of Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

The statues outside of the Legislature were awe-inspiring and emotional. My great-uncle, George Douglas Stark, was killed in combat and there is a memorial in England dedicated to him and his crew. So standing before these fallen soldiers reminded me of my Great-uncle and the sacrifice he and his crew made for me, my family and our country. Beside the statue of Queen Victoria, there was a tree and although there was a sign asking people not to climb the tree, Katarina and I couldn’t help ourselves and had to take some photos…

I really want to emphasize how much walking we did…we walked everywhere; to eat, to the Legislature, to the mall, to Starbucks and sometimes we walked long distances to find food or Starbucks. It wasn’t always speed-walking but it was good for my health. So, back to the Legislature, we had to go through a security check which was fun, we took a lot of pictures, I got to see the back of Christy Clark’s head and I had no idea there were so many beautiful stained glass windows and inspirational quotes.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection: Review

Sweet Peach Collection

Hey people, I am speaking about the Too Faced – Sweet Peach Collection…I love everything peach; clothes, tea, paint and most of all, makeup! When Too Faced announced that they would be launching a peach eyeshadow palette, well I did a happy dance.; I had been waiting for someone to come up with a peach inspired eyeshadow palette and Too Faced did it; so when I heard when the launch date would be, I ran to my favourite Sephora store and grabbed it. It was beautiful, perfect, a great combination of matte and shimmer shades; there was a great variety of not only peach shades, but also colours that perfectly complemented the peach!!! Best of all, it smells like peach sour candies. At the time, I was kicking myself for not grabbing two but…

Enter the launch of the Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection, I’m assuming because of the outpouring of love for the eyeshadow palette, they decided to expand the line. The new products that joined the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette are: Sweet Peach Glow Peach-Infused Highlighting Palette; Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss which comes in eight colours and the Sweet Peach Papa Don’t Peach Blush, which I don’t have a picture of because I didn’t buy it…yet. Also, I bought another peach eyeshadow palette!!!

There are so many things to love about these products: the eyeshadow palette has varying shades of peach as well as complimentary colours; all of the products smell like peaches, sweet peaches; the lip glosses are creamy and long-lasting and as I have naturally dry lips they are uber hydrating; the highlighting palette, well; the blush is the perfect shade of peach, the highlighter gives my face a brilliant glow, and the bronzer can be used all over the face.

When I think of the colour peach, I think of Spring and Summer but I plan to wear these products all year round because they make me feel pretty and some days well; I just want to feel naturally pretty and feminine. Even if it’s the middle of winter, with snow on the ground, I will wear peach…

Our Vacation to Victoria: Day One

BC Ferries to Victoria

Hello everybody, welcome to our family Victoria vacation!!! It has been eight years since we have been able to take a vacation and it was wonderful. Pedro arranged for us to stay at this beautiful hotel across the harbor; which you will see in future posts, from the Empress Hotel and the B.C. Legislature.

First of all, I need to thank a few people/organizations for helping me to set up my blog and get writing; SiteOrigin and their PageBuilder Widgets, Greg Narayan and YouTube for providing a platform for these people to share their knowledge. We caught the ferry to Victoria and had breakfast at the buffet. In the buffet, we were able to stay for the whole trip, the food was amazing and had a great variety, Pedro was able to work, Jonathan and Katarina played on their various electronic devices and I went for a walk. It was nice to know that I could come back to the buffet and that we didn’t have to protect our seats from anyone.

We really just needed an opportunity to relax, all of us together, so even the drive to Victoria from the ferry was easy. When we reached downtown Victoria, we found what we thought was our hotel but there are two Marriott hotels in Victoria; Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour and Delta Hotels by Marriott Ocean Pointe Resort. The latter was our hotel and as we were driving to the hotel, we could see it and it was amazing.

We checked in and went up to our room which was beautiful and the view of the harbour was incredible! We had two queen size beds, a tv that could play off of our electronic devices, a rain shower head, and the bathroom had shelves; we had a sitting room with two comfy chairs that looked out of this floor to ceiling window; there was a mini fridge and well I could keep on the time we were settled in it was lunch time, so we set out to discover Victoria and found this little waffle place; when I say little it was in a corner with a high counter inside and tables outside; you order your food and they bring it to you.  The name of the shop is wannawafel,, go check it out!!!

We headed back to our hotel after lunch and some more exploring, decided we were too tired for dinner so stayed in for the night. I, however, decided to explore the hotel because I wanted to check out the pool and fitness room. I was not disappointed; the pool was almost six feet at its deepest and the gym, well the gym; multiple treadmills which made me happy, multiple bikes and ellipticals, a yoga room, a squash court and a ping pong table.

I went exploring just around the hotel and found a gas station, so snacks and drinks. There was also a private Starbucks in the hotel lobby, open until eight pm, they served basic drinks but also frappuccinos. I also discovered in the lobby, two large “jugs” of water with different fruits and veggies infused in the water, one was lemonade and the other was plain water; they had strawberries, cucumbers, lemons, limes, oranges and pineapple. Katarina and I almost emptied them everyday, especially the lemonade.

Day One comes to a close…

Switch On Your Brain: Day 1

These are a Few of My New Favourite Things

Hey people, I want to share with you some of my new favourite beauty products…I think I’ll start with hair and the product that I want to share is mousse. It all started when I needed to find a salon closer to home. I had been driving into downtown Vancouver for years because I have very thick and coarse hair and I am very particular about my hair. I found this great little salon in White Rock, about a half hour from my house and I love it. My stylist is fantastic, parking is free and everyone is wonderful. After the second time I had my hair done, I asked the receptionist what my stylist put in my hair. I was a little concerned when she said mousse because I hadn’t had great experiences with mousse but the receptionist said that this mousse was fantastic, so I bought it. It is fantastic; it is light, doesn’t get sticky when my hair gets wet, and it leaves my hair so soft and manageable!!!! It is made by a company called R+Co and it is called Chiffon, it has this beautiful scent and gives my hair a beautiful shine. Pick some up if you can.

I have fallen in love with these two products for the face; I received them as a trial size set, there were five products in the set, I gave Katarina three and I kept the other two. These products are from First Aid Beauty or FAB and one of the many things I love about FAB is that it is affordable, relatively speaking of course. FAB can be purchased in store at Ulta beauty and Sephora or online at http://www.ulta.comhttp://www.sephora.com, and The first product is a face cleanser and is described as “a fragrance-free, gentle cleanser that effectively removes makeup, dirt, and grime, leaving skin soft and supple. The whipped texture transforms into a sumptuous cream when blended with water.” It is good for these skin types: normal, oily, dry sensitive, and combination. I love this cleanser, it leaves my skin soft and feeling clean but not tight and irritated and it doesn’t make my face go all red. It is amazing and I can use it with moisturizers that aren’t FAB!!!

And speaking of moisturizers…the other product that I took from the trial set is FAB’s Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer which is a mouthful but it is fabulous. It is described as “Makeup meets skincare with this two-in-one moisturizer and makeup-gripping primer. Formulated with superfood ingredients that are rich in vital proteins, electrolytes, and minerals and infused with a natural coconut scent, this priming moisturizer hydrates and smooths skin as light-reflecting micro-pearls impart a dewy luminosity. The result is beautiful, healthy-looking skin when worn alone and long-lasting makeup when used as a prep step.” I wore it one day alone and my skin was beautiful, dewy, smooth and natural glow. I will be buying the full size bottle and it may just be my favourite moisturizer of all time!!! I haven’t used it without adding primer before my foundation yet but I will do that tomorrow and take a picture to show you how it looks and works.
